THOUGHT OF THE DAY:

I was once invited to take on a leadership role. It was a volunteer position, and a one year commitment. I would be responsible for serving over a hundred people. Nervous, I asked my mentor if he had any advice. He did not. Instead, he told me that if the job seemed easy then maybe I wasn’t doing it right. That wasn’t what I wanted to hear. I accepted the position. It was challenging, time consuming, and I worried a lot. I also kept in mind what my mentor said, and by the end of the year everything turned out okay. There were no injuries. No one died. Everyone was happy.

QUOTE FOR THE DAY:

"The man from Saturn, in Voltaire's tale, complained that the length of life on that hurried planet, was but fifteen thousand years; and what could one learn or accomplish in that brief span?"

—Will Durant, The Pleasures of Philosophy
